In today’s competitive world the effective execution of value-adding business processes and related projects is imperative. The UAB Collat School of Business is again offering the Project Management Foundational Course as well as two new courses: PMP Test Preparation and Project Management Technology workshop. The PM Foundational course is designed for those who are looking to enter or advance in the project management profession. Participants not only gain a deeper understanding of the project management lifecycle, but also practice the competencies needed to balance competing demands and communicate with diverse stakeholders.
This PM Foundational course provides a total of 36 contact hours of combined face-to-face and online instruction, and meets the education requirements needed to sit for the PMP or CAPM exams. Ideally, students will have some prior relevant education or work experience as well as a desire to learn.
The PM Foundational course includes training in the PMI Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®) with instruction and exercises covering the project management knowledge areas and process groups with problem and project solution exercises and examples. The course provides instruction and exercises in the use of project management software such as Microsoft Project, Trello, and more. All materials are provided including the textbook, class notebook, and online course material and resources.
The PMP can also provide a significant advantage when it comes to salary and earning potential. Among survey respondents to PMI’s Earning Power Salary Survey, those with a PMP certification garner a higher salary (20% higher on average) than those without a PMP certification.
The Certification Magazine's annual survey reports that project managers with a PMP certification earn an average base salary of $129,630.
