SOD501 - Virtual Education and Engagement Program
Welcome to UAB School of Dentistry's Virtual Education and Engagement Program
This virtual course aims to increase UAB SOD enrollment among populations traditionally under-represented in dentistry, including racial/ethnic minorities, rural residents, and economically challenged students, by helping candidates develop competitive application portfolios. The six sessions within the Virtual Education and Engagement Program (VEEP) will enable scholars to: develop knowledge and skills necessary for success in the preparation for, admission to, and completion of dental education; create a plan for compiling a competitive dental school application portfolio; establish relationships with both UAB SOD students and community practitioner mentors; employ strategies for success on the DAT; conduct a mock interview. UAB SOD is committed to educating a future oral healthcare workforce that is well-positioned and prepared to meet Alabama’s needs. VEEP aims to help desirable candidates from groups historically under-represented in dentistry develop and implement the skills necessary for professional and personal development so they can eventually join the oral healthcare workforce.
